Claustrophobia

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

One thing in the news that caught my eye was a story about a Mars Experiment. In order to simulate a trip to Mars, six men have volunteered to be locked inside a capsule for three months. The capsule is located in Russia and will provide some needed information on how humans will act in this situation.

The capsule itself is divided into three sections. The medical section will provide a way to isolate a sick member. Another section will be for food storage and there will be a living room section as well. Being interested in a trip to Mars, I will be watching to see the outcome of this venture. I think it will be a good thing to venture away from our planet and start exploring the universe!

Scams…

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Somehow, my email address has fallen into the hands of Nigerians. Every other day I get an email from someone indicating that they have a huge award in the Nigerian National Bank. Unfortunately for them, they are for one reason or another unable to collect the money.

Their loss is my gain and it is fortunate that I would be able to collect a portion of the money if I would just help them out. What a blessing it would be to become rich! All I have to do is send my personal information to them and the rest is easy. I wouldn’t mind these scams so much, but I do wish they would at least use the spell-check!!

Vince…

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will”. This quote by Vince Lombardi caught my eye the other day. I was reminded that in our great country, even a man with the humblest beginnings can rise to the top.

I have often wondered what more I could accomplish in my life had I a greater faith in my abilities. Though I have come far and am happy to be where I am, I know a few times when I should have stepped up and been more aggressive. I think I will try to work on this point and see how far I can go!

Wind power

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

Throughout the country, the giant wind turbines are sprouting up. I think it’s a great thing for our country. To be able to harness the power of the wind to generate electricity will help our country wean itself off foreign oil. That’s a good thing. It seems to me that while we are fighting a war against terrorism, we are their main financial source in the form of buying their oil.

We live in the freest country in the world. I think that developing our own energy sources will help free ourselves from being dictated to by a small group of countries that control the oil supply. I say we should build, and build, and build!
