Five Years Strong

Friday, May 1st, 2009

I wanted to recognize a friend of mines effort to rid himself of his alcohol addiction. Today marks his five year anniversary of abstinence. John had a serious problem in the past and it cost him a lot of needless pain. His addiction affected his work and his family life. John finally realized that he needed help and found it at an AA meeting.

I am glad that John has been able to overcome this problem and get his life back in order. He now has a great support group to help him through the tough times and a family that supports him as well. I hope that everyone who knows anyone with a similar problem will encourage the victim to seek help. There is no reason in this day and age why anyone cannot do so.

The Big Decision!

Friday, May 1st, 2009

The family is all excited as we have decided on our next big adventure! Each year we all sit down and choose where we are going to vacation. This year, we decided that Alaska was going to be our choice. With the super mountain views and the beautiful rivers, we thought that it would be the most scenic place to go. I am interested in the wildlife especially. I know that my boy and I can hunt and fish to our hearts content.

The girls are more interested in seeing the sights. With so many choices, it’s hard to know the best places for Alaska Travel. With so many state parks, we weren’t sure which would be the right one for us. I called a friend who had recently visited there and he suggested that we tour Denali Park. Since they would provide a bus to ride in, we would only have to worry about taking pictures.

I know we are all going to have a good time. I am looking forward to finally scratching this vacation destination off our list. We have always wanted to Travel Alaska as we know it’s a wonderful place. I can’t wait to tell everyone in the office, as they will all be so jealous. I’ll tell you all about it when we get back!

Painting

Friday, May 1st, 2009

After the long winter, the house looks to be in need of a new coat of paint. It is unfortunate as one of the things I really don’t like to do is paint. Nevertheless, I knew it had to be done so I forced myself to get started. I knew that the longer I put it off, the more o would dread its being done.

I got out the ladder and searched about for all my supplies, such as the brushes, rollers, and pans. I started early in the day and got a good start. I was kind of in a hurry to finish before my distaste for painting really kicked in. I got the front and sides of the house done and left the back for tomorrow. I’ll be glad to be finished with this chore so I can look forward to a whole year without painting again!

Moving Forward

Ever since he was a little kid, my older brother Steve has practiced the martial arts. He was able to earn a black belt in karate and holds belts in other arts as well. The most difficult part of what he does is the training. It takes a lot of time and effort to stay in shape. Steve feels that he would be better able to do this if he had a regular training partner. A good partner can be hard to find so he had to look around for a place that could help him.

Steve was able to find a website that could help. It is called fightlaunch.com and it has useful information that he could use. Steve was able to find and contact other MMA Fighters with whom he could train. He also was able to find all the local gyms that were in his area. The best part was that after watching some MMA Videos, he became interested in possibly turning pro.

Steve is now using this website to contact professional promoters who may be able to help him turn his hobby into a career. With a promoter looking after all the business, Steve will be able to concentrate on training and fighting. I am glad that he has taken the steps necessary to better himself and be known for the great talent that he has.
