One of my Heroes!

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

In America, nearly everyone has heard of Dr Seuss. He was able to touch everyone’s life with his famous writing style. Many of my early memories are of reading his great books. He had many, but one of my personal favorites was One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. I can’t tell you how many times I read that book!

One thing I really enjoyed was reading these stories to my children. These timeless classics brought us closer and gave us many hours of fun. My son always liked Green Eggs and Ham, while my daughter favored The Cat in the Hat. I remember the day when Dr Seuss died. It was a sad day for millions of Americans. The good part was that his legacy lives on in his work.

National Hamburger Month

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

One of my favorite months of the year is May. That’s because it is generally known as National Hamburger Month. Anyone who knows me is aware of my passion for hamburgers. I like them with the works, mayonnaise, mustard, pickles, and lettuce. I love to grill them on my back porch and then chow down.

The roots of the burger are thought to be from the port city of Hamburg Germany. Immigrants brought the food with them to America where it became a staple food for millions of lucky people. It is thought that Americans consume over 14 billion hamburgers a year. I know that I am doing all I can to increase that number!
