Cap and Trade
One thing I’ve been reading about lately is the new environmental Cap and Trade system that congress is considering. In order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, companies will be allotted “credits” which can be traded to other companies to help them meet their emissions quotas. I am all for reducing greenhouse gases, but I’m not sure this system will work.
This system of trading credits is rife with flaws. There are so many loopholes in the rules that the average American will be hard pressed to see any results at all. The other problem is that it will definitely cost the taxpayers a great deal of money to enact. I hope that congress and the current administration will be able to solve this problem in a different way!
