The Statue of Liberty
There are many people in the media who give the country of France a hard time. I do think it is important to remember that this country helped us in a time of desperate need. Without their support, we all might still be giving allegiance to the king of England. This country also gave us the Statue of Liberty. This is one of our countries most recognizable landmarks.
To celebrate its centennial, the people of France gave the people of America the statue in 1886. The statue is and foundation is 305ft tall. Its green color is due to the fact that it is clad in copper witch turns this color over time. This present represents the friendship between our two countries that began during the revolutionary war. I hope that our two countries will continue their friendship we have established and hope that everyone in the U.S. will appreciate the wonderful gift we have received.
