The Summer Slopes

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

My niece Athena lives in California. Her oldest daughter is named Ethel and she is at that age when she wants to do many things. This year, Athena decided to send her to a summer ski camp in Oregon on MT. Hood. This is apparently a great place for people to learn to race down the mountains and have a great time. Athena will not have to worry to much as she knows Ethel will receive 24 hour supervision.

When it comes to summer camps, this is one of the best. They not only offer skiing, but have many other activities as well. The coaches are trained to offer the best instruction and are able to find the best ways to teach skiing as it was meant to be. I know that Ethel will really enjoy this special treat and will do well.

General Stuff

I just wanted to let everyone know what’s been going on around our house. We spent most of the day at the beach and we had a really great time. The kids played in the water and as it was a very hot day, I took a dip myself. We packed a lunch and ate it all as we had worked up an appetite.

Tomorrow it will be back to the grindstone as we have much yard work to do. I need to check the roof because we seem to have sprung a leak. The bushes out front need trimming and the garage could use a good once over. After that it will be Monday and we’ll start the whole thing over!

Cars, Cars, Cars

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

Around our house, we have a lot of cars. Since the kids have started driving, our house looks more like a parking lot than a house. We also noticed that we were spending a lot of money to keep the cars running. I have been looking into ways to combat the problem and I think I have found an answer. I heard about a company called US Warranty Center that allows you purchase any extended auto warranties you may need. The dealers warranties usually only last for so long. After that you are on your own. That is not a problem for us.

Anytime you are looking for an Auto Warranty, the first thing you should do is go to this company. They have already done the work of screening the various auto warranty companies to find the best ones. After that, all you have to do is pick the plan that is right for you. The benefits of having an extended warranty on your vehicle are many. Let’s say for example that your transmission goes out. That’s a lot of money you will have to come up with out of your pocket in order to get your car back on the road.

If you have a warranty, you will be able to have your car fixed without worrying about how to pay for it. In many cases, it may not cost you a dime! I advise everyone who reads this to at least look into the situation. It’s a free service and you will receive a free quote. Buying a car is usually a big investment. Protecting that investment is a key to good financial sense. Make sure that you are covered in the event that something goes wrong with your car. I hope you’ll take my advice and be safe rather than sorry!

Football is coming!

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

One thing I look forward to every year is the coming of football season. I love the game and almost everything about it. The problem for me is that I am a lifelong Washington Redskins fan. If you know anything about football, you can see why I am so distressed!

Every year we hope for a return to the old glory days of “the hogs” our famous line that won the championship so long ago. I sure would be glad to see a resurrection of this once glorified team. I am an old school Redskin fan so it’s a given that I hate the Cowboys with an undying passion. The only good thing that can happen if we lose is that the Cowboys lose as well!

News from Abroad

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

My mom’s side of the family hails from Scotland. We keep in touch with them on a fairly frequent basis. We tell them what’s going on in America and they keep us informed on the doings in Scotland. They recently told us about their experience with the new windows they had installed in their home. They used a popular company called Northern Scotland Joinery to replace their old windows for new ones.

They were really happy with the windows they selected. Their house used to be very drafty and the new windows are saving them a lot of money on their heating and cooling bills. The windows have Double Glazing and make the house look so much better. They sent some before and after pictures and I must admit the house looks so much better. It’s good to know our family abroad is doing so well.
