Stonehenge
Sunday, June 21st, 2009One of the most popular attractions in Britain is place called Stonehenge. Built sometime around 3,000 BC and 1,600 BC, the circle of giant stones is an inspiration to millions. The attraction draws about 750,000 people a year and is a perennial favorite. The purpose of the monument is still unknown. Some believe it is part of an ancient calendar, while others believe it is a place of healing. Whatever it’s purpose, it is a popular place.
Each year during the summer solstice, thousands gather at the spot to celebrate the longest day of the year. Many people swear that they derive a feeling of healing and empowerment when they touch the stones. This is one place that I have never been to, but I am sure that I would like to visit it one day!
