The Bill

Friday, June 26th, 2009

President Barack Obama pushed for the passage of a huge global warming bill today. The house is set to vote on it soon and lawmakers are positioning themselves either pro or con. Republicans claim that the bill will increase energy costs for the average citizen and force the energy industry to make cuts. Democrats counter that the bill will actually create jobs.

Who is right on this question remains uncertain. One thing is for sure though, something needs to be done. The earth’s climate continues to change rapidly with unknown consequences. I hope that these congressmen and women will be able to find a compromise that will ensure the survival of our climate and our race.

Watching for Less

My brother recently moved out of town to an apartment complex. It’s an old run-down place that was never wired for cable. We thought this was bad at first, but we soon found out that it was a blessing in disguise. Since we had no option for cable, we looked into the Direct TV option. We soon found that this was a better choice. We had never known the advantages that that this would provide.

By going with this option, my brother Dave now receives over a hundred channels in HD. He also has been able to take advantage of their great sports packages and many premium movie channels. They installed his Satellite Directv without charge. You can’t beat that deal! Anyway, Dave is very happy with his DirectTV service. Another bonus was that he received a special bonus for signing up!

Now that Dave has some of the best channels and sports, he has many people coming to his apartment to watch his TV. I plan on making the trip on Sundays when football season rolls around. I can’t wait to view all the games I want! I am sure that Dave may get tired of seeing me coming!

Good bye

I was saddened when I heard that actress Farrah Fawcett had died today. She was 62 years old and died a Hollywood icon. Her most famous role was on the hit show Charlie’s Angels. To people “Men” my age, she was the most beautiful woman you could imagine. She had everything a man could want. She had the smile, the hair, and the body that could turn men into jello.

Am I’m sure I am not alone when I despair that this wonderful addition to our lives is gone. As I was online I revisited many of the photos and film clips from this wonderful actress. I was amazed that she had been able to do so many great things with her life. I know that I will join thousands of others in mourning this tragic death.
