Carbon Permits
The Obama administration is set to pass a large bill that will take steps to curb planet killing greenhouse gases. The legislation encompasses a wide variety of measures to reduce emissions and save energy. There is of course much debate on the bill and its effectiveness. Those to the right of the aisle say the bill will cost consumers too much money and that energy prices will rise dramatically. Those on the left of the aisle say the bill does not go far enough.
The center of the bill revolves around a plan to set a cap on the amount of pollution a company can make. If the company goes over the limit, they will have the option to purchase “carbon permits” that they can buy. The debate rages on in Washington, but all feel that at least something is being done! I hope the plan will do its intended purpose and actually work!
