Dealers got dealt
We’ve all heard about the big troubles the auto industry has been having. Recently, a new trouble has arisen. Many car dealers have been let go as part of the repositioning of the big three auto makers. It has been a painful process. Some of the dealers have been in business for many decades. Chrysler has announced the closing of nearly 25% of its dealerships.
The lost franchisees are going to hurt many of the local economies. Hundreds of jobs depend on the selling of new and used cars. The ripple effect throughout the community will be felt as well. With the job market in shambles, many people will have a tough time trying to make a living. The dealers have appealed to Washington for help, but as of yet, none is forthcoming. We will have to wait and see what the final effect of these dealers’ closings will have.
