The congress of the United States is considering a bill that would take far-reaching steps to improve the regulation of our food supply. The bill will increase the amount of inspections of farms and food processing plants. With the many outbreaks of food poisoning lately, congress has finally decided to get serious about food safety.
Many people would expect that the food industry would be against the new regulations. That is not the case in this instance. Many industries welcome the new regulations as they feel that it will help to increase consumer confidence. The bill will soon reach the senate where they will work on its passage. I hope the congress will realize the importance of our food supply and pass new measures to protect it!
