A new idea

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

Every once in awhile you hear a story that is just plain crazy, I heard of one this week. S&V Technologies has decided to custom build contact lenses for animals. The company is using new technologies to develop contact lenses for such animals as giraffes, kangaroos, and sea lions. The animals benefit with a better quality of life.

One of the problems they encounter is that each animal has unique problems when they are being fitted with the lenses. The operation to put them in can be lengthy and dangerous. So far there have been few mishaps. The good news is that the company is making money and the animals can see life through new eyes.

Water can be bad!

One thing we learned recently was that water can be bad. We had developed a plumbing leak that had gone unnoticed for quite some time. When it was discovered, we also found that mold had been growing in the space between the floors. We knew this was a problem, but didn’t know what to do about it. Luckily, we found a solution to our problem.

We found a company that specializes in mold removal. They can be found at h2odrying.com. We were able to secure their services to have the mold removed. They came in and did a fantastic job of getting the walls dry and the problem was quickly solved. I was happy with their prompt response and they worked hard to do the job right. I am glad the whole thing worked out so well.

Worse before better

All the major annalists and indicators agree that the economy will get worse before it gets better. This is not good news for those of us who are already on the poverty borderline. The struggle to maintain viability in the face of worsening economic times has been a hardship that many have had to endure. I hope the experts are wrong when they predict this outlook!

In some ways, the economy has gotten better. I think it may be due to the summer weather which tends to provide a lot of summer jobs. Either way, the economy is all in how you look at it. I hope it looks better for you.

Yes or No?

I was reading an article about NASCAR’s driver Jeremy Mayfield. It seems that has failed a drug test for Meth for a second time. Jeremy was briefly suspended from driving, but was reinstated after a court hearing. Now the whole thing is turning into one big mess. Jeremy is accused of taking the drug by his stepmother Lisa. She states that she has witnessed him taking the drug at various times.

Jeremy states that she is out to get him and that the NASCAR’s drug testing policy is flawed. I don’t know what the truth is in this matter, but I hope that the whole thing will be resolved soon so that we can all get back to racing!

Discover the Beauty

As many of you may know, our family is deeply rooted in the UK. When grandpa came across the pond to live in the USA, he left behind the heart of our family. We are constantly in touch with these people and share the many holidays and special moments that come into our lives. One such event was when my Cousin Pearl decided to take her family on one of the Caribbean Holidays that you hear so much about. She kept in touch with us via the internet and shared her family’s adventure.

Pearl had always wanted to visit the Caribbean Islands. She loves the sand and surf and the islands have plenty of that. She also wanted to expose her children to the fact that there are other countries with different cultures than their own. She was able to do both things by taking this trip. They discovered the beauty of the island of Antigua where they spent many hours on the white sand beaches and taking boat tours of the surrounding waters. The kids enjoyed snorkeling in the reefs that abound by the shore and were delighted with the numerous species of fish that that can be found there.

The best holidays in caribbean are available during the off season at a greatly reduced price. This is what enabled her to afford the trip. She was able to take advantage of a package deal especially designed for residents of the UK. These holidays are now available to almost everyone. Pearl was so happy that she had made the decision to go. Her family has many happy memories of the trip and a whole lot of souvenirs to remind them of it. We enjoy the many pictures that she sent us feel like we were there as well. I was thinking that maybe our family would be able to visit these island treasures sometime in the future.
