The Holiday Season is going strong!

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

This year’s holiday season has been very busy for us. We were able to accommodate all our family and guests at our blowout dinner. It seems that every member of the family dropped by at some point, and they are still coming strong. The best part is that we still have this weekend to celebrate until we all have to go back to work. Even so, it’s been a wonderful few days off and I am ready to face the world again!

Old friends and TVs

I was talking with an old friend of mine who is getting ready to make a change in his life. He has decided to move so that he can start a new job with the post office. We were discussing how the moving was going when he told me about one of his worries. He said that he wanted to continue receiving his Direct TV in Texas. He didn’t know whether or not that was possible and asked me for advice.

Since I had been using the Direct TV service for years, I thought I knew the answer. I was sure that it could easily be done as they have service in most of the country. I am not surprised as I am sure that people all over know a good value when they see it. High definition TV is all the rage these days and it seems that everybody wants it. I understand their feelings as I have grown to love it myself.

Ever since I started with the Direct Satellite TV service, I have been more than satisfied. I receive all of my shows in HD and also receive the sports programs that I desire most. My kids love the fact that all the movies they watch come in HD. My wife likes the fact that the rates are reasonable and affordable to our budget. I think that we are all pretty happy with our service and I think my friend will enjoy his in Texas as well.

Saving Fish

Friday, December 25th, 2009

One thing that I consider as being important is preserving the many species of animals that live on the earth. One animal that is in danger of extinction is the Kootenai white sturgeon. Since man has put up a dam called the Libby dam, the water levels have changed and caused the fish to not spawn as nature intended. This has left the fish in danger of extinction.

Experts have revealed that there are fewer than 500 of these fish left. They also say that they have not spawned in over 35 years. While there have been recent attempts to fix the problem, the results have been negative. There will be one last attempt made to help the fish when early next year they will flood the river in a last ditch effort to help them spawn. I hope the attempt is successful.

Freedom

There are a few things that we all rely on every day. One thing that most of us have in common is the need to have a working vehicle. That’s why when my car decided to stop working; I knew I would have to get it fixed quickly. I am fortunate enough to own a Chevrolet Silverado, but had the bad luck to have it break down. That was devastating as I depend on my car to get back and forth to work.

I took my car to the shop and had the mechanic give it a once over. I found a garage that I really like and I feel they have been honest with me about my car. That’s not easy to come by these days and so I was happy about that. They are one of the most dependable shops for Dallas auto repair. I took their estimate of the situation to heart as I think they are on the up and up.

The mechanic said that I would need to have a brake job done on my car. I thought that was probably true as it’s been quite awhile since my brakes were worked on. I decided to have the work done and was back on the road in no time. Now I am glad to have my car back and think I got the better end of the bargain. I am looking forward to ending my carpool arrangement and having the freedom to go where I want!
