New additions

Saturday, May 19th, 2012

Since we have had some new additions to our family, there has been a lot of discussion about how to care for babies. One issue that came up was about Baby Carriers. We wanted to know how to figure out which ones were right for our kids. It turns out that there are a number of factors to consider when selecting a carrier. I will list some of the major concern

The age and weight of the baby is an important fact to consider. Make sure your carrier is designed for the child who will ride in it. Should the child face forward or backward is another option to consider. Carrier safety is a big issue and people should keep informed about the carrier they have as sometimes issues are raised and recalls are necessary.

All this information led us to our next concern which was How babys communicate. Of course their cries are the number one ways in which they get attention. It’s their best option of letting us know when they are hungry or hurt. It’s important to pay attention to your baby’s unique way of communication. Parenthood can be difficult at times, but those people who consider their baby’s comfort and safety will be richly rewarded by their loving children.

Looking for a Used Car

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

With the price of gas still going up, driving my big pickup trick everywhere is getting to be expensive. Last time I filled up it cost me $70 and that barely lasts a week when I use the truck for everything. I’m thinking I need to get a small car that gets good gas mileage for all the local errands and when I don’t really need a pickup truck.

My buddy Mason has a little Nissan Altima that he wants to sell. He needs the extra cash and doesn’t drive it much, so I told him I’d come take a look at it. If its in good shape and we can come to agreement on a fair price, I’d probably better off driving that car and he’ll get some cash out of it. Sounds like a deal – hope it proves to work out that way.

Camping

Sunday, April 22nd, 2012

It seems that everyone in the house is getting that old camping bug. Since the weather is getting warmer. The kids are itching to go on our annual camping trip. Our only problem seems to be deciding where to go. I always like going to the woods, but the kids usually want to go to the beach.

Maybe we can find somewhere that is a little of both. I guess time will tell. Anyway I hope to see you there.

Bumped into Jenny

Monday, April 9th, 2012

Went to lunch today and bumped into a friend from back in the hood, Jenny. She actually had dated my brother for a few months, but mostly I remember her being on the school bus with us and seeing her around school all the time. She was never in any of my classes, but she lived just 4 houses down the street and we played together as kids, hung out at each others houses and had the same group of friends.

Jenny looks great! She’s married, has two little girls, and was just out running errand when she got hungry and decided to grab a sandwich. It was pretty cool to see her and have a chance to catch up for a few minutes. Good memories.

A cute apron to match my cute kitchen

Guest post written by Henrietta Raskin

I’m loving my little kitchen in my apartment. I’m so glad that I have a decent sized one that I can actually move around in and use for some real entertaining. I’m starting to be quite the little homemaker, except I’m only making a home for myself. And I have to say that it’s a pretty awesome little home.

I love doing extra things when I’m preparing my food, like setting the table even though I’m the only one. I also love cooking with an apron on, but my old one was starting to fall apart so I decided to make a new one. When I was browsing craft blogs and apron patterns I found some info on debt counseling options. That’s a personal finance issue that I’ve had for a few years and I know that I have to take care of it because no one else will. So I’m going to get some counseling and help my financial situation.

I fell in love with this one cute apron and knew that I had to make it for myself. I also found some great fabric that matches my kitchen curtains, so it’s fate!
