Helping Mom

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

It’s been nearly six years since my mom retired and moved to Florida. She loves the weather there and has many friends. She says she’ll never move back up north. I think that is great for her, but we worry about her a lot as there is no one in the family who lives anywhere nearby. Her health is not what it used to be and she has some trouble getting around.

We struggled to find a way to maintain her safety while still allowing her the freedom of living alone. Luckily, we found a system called Life Alert that could help. Mom has had many troubles with her hip. It causes her some pain and limits her movement. She finds it difficult to sit in a chair or even get out of one. She has fallen more than once and was lucky a neighbor checked on her.

I decided that getting her the Life Alert system would be the best option. It has many features that I like. It can be used in any home and can detect when someone has fallen. That way, all she has to do is wait for help to come. Life Alert also has a smoke detector and big pushbuttons that can be pushed when help is needed. I feel so much better now that mom has this technology to help protect her. I know that she will enjoy her remaining years in Florida.

Looking good

One thing that is very important in this life is how you look. It affects nearly every aspect of your life. It reflects how people feel about you as well as how you feel about yourself. That’s why you may want to consider having Cosmetic Surgery done as a way to improve how you look and feel. It has become very commonplace these days and is an effective way to build self esteem.

Due to the natural aging process, many people suffer from various conditions that can be corrected. A simple operation such as a face lift may enhance the way you appear to other people as well as giving you a feeling of confidence. It is well documented that how you look can have a great effect on how you feel.

One thing that is very important is to be able to trust that your surgery is done by a professional. You have to be sure that you are in the hands of a reputable and experienced person. I think a good place to start your search would be to check out a site called mya.co.uk. They have a lot of useful information that could be of help with your decisions. Check it out when you get a chance.

Moving Forward!!

The push by the Obama administration to enact a health care bill goes on. Despite the many set-backs they have encountered, the democrats are pushing to have legislation ready for the president to sign. The delays are causing some consternation for some, but hope is still high for the bill.

I think that I can speak for many Americans when I say that it’s high time to do something about the situation. In our day and age, we should not have to worry about going to the hospital. As it stands, I would face economic ruin if I get sick. I hope the congress and senate realize the gravity of the situation!

In my eye

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

I have to report an amazing thing that happened to me today. There is some construction work going on in front of our office. I was walking out in order to go to lunch. The workers were grinding some metal and the chips were flying about. The wind was up and I walked by without notice. The bad part was that a metal chip flew into my eye. I knew what had happened right away.

I spent the rest of the day trying to dislodge the chip. No matter what I tried, it wouldn’t budge. I finally had a friend drive me to the eye doctor where I had it removed. It cost me $25 bucks but was worth every penny. I had thought about suing the company that was performing the work, but decided not to as it was just bad luck!

The Debate!!

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

The Obama administration has been pushing for a health care package to be completed by August. This deadline is in jeopardy. With republicans in the house and senate pushing against the bill, their stalling tactics have slowed down progress. As of now, no one knows when the bill will be completed.

I think it is a sad day when people block progress for the sole reason of political gains. There are millions of people in need of health care and the government should provide it for them. I hope that the republicans will get their act together and get with the program!
