Overtime

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Most of my days at work are hectic. The good thing is that when my time is up, there are others who show up to fill in the gap. Today was not one of those days. It seems that all of the night shift was unable to work for one reason or another. That’s when I had to take action

I called for replacements but no one seemed to be available. I stayed on until some people finally decided to show up. I am glad to be home but tomorrow is sure to be another busy day. I hope I am up for the challenge.

Lost in space

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

I am sure that many people who are my age remember the T.V show called Lost in Space. I spent many hours watching the show and still love it till this day. Anyway, I was saddened to hear that one of the key players in the show died today. His name was Dick Tufeld and he was the voice of the robot.

Dicks most famous line was when he said “Danger, Will Robinson!” it became one of the best catch phrases ever. Dick was 85 and started a new adventure this week when he died at his home. Goodbye Dick.

Starting a new year

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

This year I was desperately trying to make some new years resolutions. I really plan to try to keep the ones I made. I want to lose some weight and so I have made a promise to myself that I will spend more time at the gym.

Another resolution I made was to change my driving habits. I know that I have using my cell phone while driving and that this is a dangerous practice. From now on, I will take my calls only when I have reached my destination or are in a safe place to talk.

Defusing the past

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

In the Rhine river of Germany, a remnant of the past lay waiting to destroy the future. A 1.8 ton British bomb that had been dropped in World War 2 lay unexploded. This caused a risk to all the citizens of Koblenz, a city in Western Germany. It was successfully defused on Sunday by a team of experts.

The discovery was due to low water levels in the Rhine due to a lack of rain. The finding of the bomb led to an evacuation of nearly 45,000 citizens who left their homes early Sunday morning while the bomb was dismantled. Everyone is now back in their homes and feeling a little better about the future.

Always something new

I have seen many things in my life. One thing that has always surprised me is the way that people can be identified by the way they dress. Whenever I go out, I tend to notice what people are wearing and enjoy trying to figure out what they do for a living. It’s a fun game to me but sometimes I get surprised. This happened to me the other day at the store while I was standing in line.

A nice lady was wearing some clothes that she said she bought from a site called http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Women/Original-Scrubs/. She looked like someone who might work in a hospital to some people, but I thought she was something different. I guess I was way off that day and could not figure out what she did while at work.

After we talked for awhile, everything was revealed. She said she was wearing nurses scrub uniforms that she had bought off the internet. She could not believe that I didn’t know right off that she worked in a hospital. We both laughed at the way things turned out. I guess I am not always right and it certainly is humbling sometimes. I guess it’s just the way things go when you’re having an off day.
