Always something new

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

I have seen many things in my life. One thing that has always surprised me is the way that people can be identified by the way they dress. Whenever I go out, I tend to notice what people are wearing and enjoy trying to figure out what they do for a living. It’s a fun game to me but sometimes I get surprised. This happened to me the other day at the store while I was standing in line.

A nice lady was wearing some clothes that she said she bought from a site called http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Women/Original-Scrubs/. She looked like someone who might work in a hospital to some people, but I thought she was something different. I guess I was way off that day and could not figure out what she did while at work.

After we talked for awhile, everything was revealed. She said she was wearing nurses scrub uniforms that she had bought off the internet. She could not believe that I didn’t know right off that she worked in a hospital. We both laughed at the way things turned out. I guess I am not always right and it certainly is humbling sometimes. I guess it’s just the way things go when you’re having an off day.

Rushing Home

Guest post written by Sidney Owens

When we got our alarm system we decided to go with home alarms because we ended up getting the best deal. We got it last year around Christmas time because there had been several burglaries in our neighborhood. We usually visit our daughter in Charleston, and it is pretty easy to tell when we are not at home for the holidays. A while back while my husband and I were working, we got a call from the alarm company that our alarm had been set off and that they were calling the police because the individual in the house did not provide the correct password. I was totally frightened and rushed home. By the time I got there, my husband and the police were already there. I saw them outside talking to my daughter with a hand full of groceries who looked obviously distraught. She had driven three hours to surprise us for the weekend and completely forgot that we had gotten an alarm system. Needless to say, it was not the surprise she anticipated, but we were very happy to see her.

Due the storm that is raging outside, we are all stuck at home. There is not much to do but we are killing time by playing a game. We have decided to play scrabble and are about half way through. She is winning so far but I am sure I will catch up.

Anyway, the kids are busy in their rooms and so we have not had much problem with them. The hurricane will hopefully pass us by with out a lot of problems and everything will be back to normal tomorrow.

A little fun

I took the family out for some fun this Memorial Day. We went on a white water rafting trip in Fredericksburg Va. I bought a few rafts for us to float down the river on and we had a great time. The water was warm and pleasant and we all got soaked to the bone.

The kids had the best time of all as they got to do many things they have never done before. It was good to see them deal with new things and grow up a little. We also had a cookout and that worked out well too. I always say that family fun is the best kind.
