Housing

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

One area of the economy that has taken a hit is housing. Home prices have dramatically lowered over the last several years. The only good news is that people in some areas are experiencing a boom. Miami is one such area and I am glad to announce that new housing is going up.

Developers are making plans to build new condos in order to meet the demands of consumers who want to own property. Most of the demand is coming from people who live outside of the United States. This is a good thing as our country needs to grow. Immigrants are what made our country great and it is satisfying to see that the trend is continuing.

Starting a new life

When my sister decided to move, it was a big deal for everyone in the family. We didn’t like the fact that she would be leaving the area, but were glad she was going to start a new life. When we asked her where she wanted to go, she told us that she was looking at Calgary apartments to rent. It was an area that she always wanted to live in as she had spent some time there with her first husband.

The good thing about this area is that there are plenty of choices as to where you want to stay. There are many family communities that I know she would like. We all want her to feel safe when she arrives home. There are many shopping centers in the area as well. All this adds up to a pretty good place to live.

My sister has never been afraid to move and start over. This time is no exception as she will be far away from everyone in the family. We have no relatives in Canada and so she will be completely cut off from us. I know I can always phone her but I will not be the same as seeing her. I guess she can still fly down from time to time as the airport is near her house.

Starting Out

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

My niece Athena is a darling little girl. She recently graduated from college and has married a fine young fellow named Dan. They seem to be very happy together and they remind me of when I was first starting out in life. The two of them are now located in California where Dan is trying to break into the computer field. He has found employment with a major company and is looking to settle down.

Their latest efforts have included the need to find housing until Dan is settled in with his new job. They have looked into finding one of the best San Francisco apartments to stay in while they decide their future. They wanted to be comfortable where they live and have all the amenities that are due to them. They are very particular about where they want to live.

Dan is mostly concerned with the proximity to his job. He does not want to have a long commute to work everyday. Athena has other concerns about whether or not the apartments have a pool or fitness center. She also plans on having a pet someday and so that is also a consideration. I am sure that they will be able to find the perfect place for them. At that age and time, I am sure that just being together will be more than enough for them!!

Protection

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

There are a few things in life that are very important. One of these things is my family. There is nothing that I wouldn’t do to protect them. I always try to be there for them, but that is not always possible. There are times when I am away and my children are at home alone. That’s why I decided that having some form of Home Security would be a good idea.

I was talking with a neighbor of mine and he told me that he had recently installed one of those Home Security Systems that you hear about. He also said that he felt so much more secure now that he had one. There have been a number of break-ins in our neighborhood and it worries me that our house may be next.

The good news is that I now have purchased an ADT Security System for our home. It’s good to know that my kids will be protected even if I am not there. My wife also likes the fact that she can be home alone and she won’t have to worry if someone tries to break in. the whole deal has made our family more secure and that means a lot to me. I am glad I decided to do the things that are necessary to protect my family.

Thanks a lot China

One thing that I have heard a lot about lately is Chinese drywall. It seems that the Chinese decided it would be nice to send us defective drywall that contains sulfuric fumes that corrodes pipes. This has caused numerous homeowners many headaches when dealing with insurance companies.

The problem is that when a homeowner contacts their insurance company about the problem, oftentimes they are dropped immediately. The worst part is that is all legal. There are also estimates that say that there could be as much as 500 million pounds of tainted drywall that was imported. The government says it is investigating the problem, but it once again, it’s too little too late!
