The final touch

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

It has been a busy summer and we have done many things to improve the appearance of our home. We have painted as well as remodeled much of the interior. As a final touch, we decided that we needed to have a new wall mount mailbox. Our old box was getting pretty ratty and no longer fit the décor of our house. That’s why we decided to search for a new one online.

We were fortunate to find a website called mailboxixchange.com that has a wide variety of new wall mounted mailboxes to choose from. It didn’t take more than a few minutes before we fell in love with our particular choice. They are very stylish and we found one that we think will add to the value of our home. It’s important that every piece of our house blends with the rest.

After we received our box and had it mounted, we were delighted with the way it looked. It adds to the character of our home and is one of the best house mailboxes that I have ever seen. I think that everyone should consider looking into the situation and think about getting one for yourself. I think you’ll be happy you did!

Road Trip

This weekend we went on a road trip to visit an old friend of mine. His name is Skip and he is married to Barbara. The interesting thing about Skip is that he lives in a dome. Three domes to be exact. Unlike regular houses, domes are a lot different. Not only are they round, they are made of concrete and are tough as nails. A dome can survive nearly any natural disaster you can think of.

The dome has other advantages as well. The temperature stays about the same no matter what the weather is like outside. There is little need for air conditioning or heating. This saves Skip a lot of money on his heating and cooling bills. I hope that anyone who is interested in this unique style of home would let me know and I will send you his address so you can check it out for yourself.

Heating and Cooling

Each month, I dread opening the bills I’ll have to pay. I know that they will be unusually high especially in the summer. The air-conditioner always seems to be running and I know the bills are running too. I found some information on how to reduce these bills and I thought I give them a try.

The first thing you can do is to make sure you have adequate insulation. By taking the time to plug up a few holes, you can save money. I also caulked my windows and doors. That should help out some as well. I also checked all the ducts to ensure they were properly sealed. I hope this will pay off the next time I open that envelope!

Making Life better

One thing we have really focused on this year is to ensure that our house is looking as good as possible. When we bought the house it is was in pretty bad condition. Everything was either broke or in need of repair. The doors and windows were especially bad. After a close inspection, we saw they had to go. That’s why we decided to go the extra mile and really make some changes.

One of the first things we did was to replace our patio door . The lock did not work well and the glass was not the best. The cold air seemed to come right through into the living room. This made it uncomfortable to sit in the room as well as wasting a lot of heat. That added up to a big heating bill.

Since we had gone so far, we decided to go a little further. We looked into having replacement windows installed. There were many good reasons for doing so. The best was the new look our house would have. The next best reason was for the savings we would have on our heating and cooling bills. I am glad to be able to help the environment by using less energy to heat our home.

Two birds, one stone

One of the most important factors that affect your life is where you live. It will affect your job and your general outlook on life. That’s why when my cousin decided it was time to settle somewhere new, he decided on Wilmington NC Real Estate. Charles has always liked the state of North Carolina and has often visited there. He likes the country atmosphere and the fact that there is water nearby.

One thing that really made his choice easy was this website called coastalcarolinaproperties.com. They have a really neat feature called the home search that allows you to browse through the houses for sale online. Charles kept his eye on the site nearly every day and was very excited when he found the perfect house for him.

Another cool feature about the site was their Homeless Animal Search for local animals that needed a home. Charles decided that he would help out by giving a cat a new place to live when he moved into his new house. The whole thing has worked out great so far and I can’t wait to visit Charles soon.
