Super Bowl 44

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Great news for the “Who Dat” nation. The New Orleans Saints have won their first Super Bowl victory by defeating the Indianapolis Colts 31-17. After getting off to a slow start, the Saints rallied to win the game convincingly. Heroes of the game include their quarterback Drew Brees and their field goal kicker Garrett Hartley who kicked a record setting three 40+ yard field goals.

There is little need to describe the party after the game on Bourbon Street. Folks throughout Louisiana celebrated well into the night. There will be a parade on Tuesday and expect the party to be massive. I say congratulations to the Saints on their victory.

World Series

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

I was watching game one of the World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees. I realized how far each team had come after their long seasons. The game of baseball has fallen behind Football and Basketball, but it is still one of the best games ever invented.

The problem seems to be that there is not enough action to attract kids. The thing is that it’s just a much more slowly drawn out game than the others. As I get older, I really appreciate the long innings where the excitement builds. I don’t know who will win this year, but I wish them both the best of luck!

Supporting our kids

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

One of the great things about the company I work for is that we support many community activities. One of my favorites is the little league football team we sponsor. We raise money to provide them with Jersey’s and other equipment that they need to practice and play with. This year, we are going all out to raise money for a project that is a little larger in scope.

Since the kids always play on the same fields every week, we plan to expand the clubhouse building where they change their clothes and have meetings. We are going to add Gym Lockers to the building for the kids to use. We think that by having them, we will foster a better feeling of what it’s like to be a real football player. It will also add some security for the kid’s valuable items.

We are hoping that we will be able to raise enough money so that each kid will have his own Locker. We think this is doable and hope to order them soon. We found a great site called morelockers.com that has Lockers for sale. I can’t wait to see the kids faces when they get their own Lockers filled with all the equipment they need. It will be a wonderful day!

Hall of Fame

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

I just wanted to take a minute to congratulate Michael Jordan who was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame. The long time basketball player is noted as being one of the greatest players ever and certainly deserves all the accolades he received from fellow players, coaches, and fans. I am sure that his legacy will live on for the future generations of basketball players and fans. Way to go Michael!
